oh come on, we all know tarkovsky and kurosawa are good for sure, wouldn't put welles in there, cause i only like one of his films deeply. but anyhow: i am just gonna go ahead and say other than tarkovsky none of those other filmmakers? stand a chance agianst kubrick. even tarkovsky really doesn't. kubrick is the definitive filmmaker, cause he didn't make 898975 films a year, he spent years researching his films (barry lydon-2 yrs of research)(2001: 2 years of ONLY research).

That comparison is out of line. Bay doesnt even deserve to be uttered in the same sentence as Scorsese or Leone. What you dont? seem to comprehend is that there isnt 1 perfect filmaker, you make it seem like Kubrick is the definitive, Kubrick is top5, easily, but when you look at other masters, Kurosawa, Hitchcock, Godard, Tarkovsky, Fellini, or Welles has done. Each one a particular voice, each one just as brilliant. I never said Leone was a Kubrick, I said he was one of the greats.

long shot lengths. One of the things i always notice with leone's movies... he stays on his shots much? longer than the average, distinguishable director. Extremely/intensely climactic conclusions. No one can say the final shoot out is anything but epic. And According to Webster's dictionary an auteur is: "Auteur Noun 1. A filmmaker who has a personal style and keeps creative control over his or her works." So if Leone doesn't fit this description, who does?

its the use of noise whether the music or background. I don't know of any other director who pays as much attention to the aural aspect of filmaking, presumably because most concentrate on the action. He shows Fantastic attention to? detail. Panoramic vision. Quite common in films but he makes them extraordinary. Atmosphere. Just watch one of the films back to back and you'll get a grasp of what I feel. Close-Ups. No one does them better. His films are instantly recognizable.
