I agree with you it was some shady business going on during that NCAA tournament because in my mind duke should have lost that game becasue UNLVs depth did nt really change that much from the previuos year. Also if hank gather did nt succumb they would have beat UNLV or UNLV? would have barely eased by them by the skin of there teeth.

This team was fun to watch, but they could NEVER have beaten UNLV. The Runnin' Rebels beat Loyola by 11 in the first game of the '90 seasopn when they had Gathers, by 30 when they didn't. The? run n' gun offense only worked when played against teams that weren't as athletic/conditioned . Running the floor was what UNLV liked to do, so Loyola only helped them out by playing their game

If you were of age and watched the 1990 and 1991 national championship games, you didn't even need to know about gambling to know soemthing wasn't right. Duke didn't have the right to be on the same COURT with UNLV, much less win that game in 1991 after UNLV returned the same team WITH DEPTH after stomping their brains in during? the 1990 game. And LMU would have beaten them both, but alas.

Being from Miami I was never really interested in college basketball since I played baseball as a kid. One night at around 1am, after espn sportscenter was over, I left the channel on and watched my first Loyola Marymount game. I was captivated. It was the greatest game I had ever seen and I never? stopped watching them that year. Til this day, that Loyola Marymount team is still my favorite of all time. Hank, Bo, Fryer, a crazy white guy and some swedish guy. RIP Hank. You were my favorite.
