downpicking u have to take your time with i developed hetfields style when i first picked up a guitar u gotta practice first and build up speed dont strain. it also sounds better than? up picking

I also hold the pick like James, but it probably helped that I naturally started holding the pick between thumb, middle, and index before I even was into Metallica. That's awesome that you play like that,? but you don't do it quite exactly like Hetfield. I don't have enough room here to explain exactly how he holds it.

um it's prety easy...you just? hold it with your thumb, index figner and middle finger. That's how I hold my pick. But I wouldn't recommend it if i we're you.
