I guess I should further elaborate. GM Lev Alburt famously said that if you can memorize 250 key positions, you could become a GM. Obviously, it is not that simple, but the concept is. There are specific positions chosen by GM Alburt (and others later by GM Ziatdinov) which you should learn, including the game it was played, in order to learn key themes. ? Different GMs recommend different positions/games, but the key is in the diversity of the positions.

Thank you for the kind words. A great "eureka" moment as players is when we recognize and leverage positional opportunities from other games, ours, those of great players, and those of legend (perhaps urban legend, such as Gibaud-Lazard) and learn to build tactical opportunities from them. This is why you should study classical games (Alekhine, Morphy, Capablanca, Tal, Nimzovich, etc.) as well as? modern chess, so you can build your internal "database" of positions.

Thank you for going into the tactic itself instead of just laying down the pattern. Understanding the very base of everything I think is what makes the? master, however, I'm not a master so I could very well be wrong. Nice video.

Thank you! As with just about all tactics, it wasn't original - just a recognized opportunity based on the works of others. More common (and more? difficult to camouflage) examples are the well-known Bishop sacrifice themes on h7/h2 against a castled position.

Unfortunately - after I input this game, my USB external HD lost connection and I did not have the opportunity to collect the moves. I called it the Mikenas variaion on the video, and it is actually a subvariation of the Symmetrical English.
