You might have already looked into it but my advice would be to really get to know the? differences between JAA and FAA training and the corresponding privileges. For instance, Chris Gowers explains in his Loop article (February 2011) that the newly-qualified FAA CPL holder's basic flying skills are typically weaker than their JAA counterpart's, due to what is in his opinion the difference in training philosophies between the two systems. Something to think about.

It is a shame. There are lots of people out there who would make very good pilots but don't get the opportunity to take it further than the PPL. As you build your experience you'll see that the whole thing is a rip-off, nothing's straightforward and you're always having to work towards the future rather than being able to enjoy the present - but it's still a cool thing to be doing. Flying in the USA would be awesome, think they have it quite good over there in a few senses.?

You'll spend around £25,000 from being a newly-qualified PPL with 45 hours to having a CPL and 200 hours. To make a reasonable living from flying you'd then need an Instrument Rating which is another £15,000 or an Instructor Rating which is £7000 or so (if you want to instruct, obviously). With rising university tuition fees I imagine that most people your age with aspirations to fly will probably have to forget the degree or make the career change to flying? down the line.

I flew with Neil once, he's a good friend of my dad. I've had around 25 hours so far and I'm flying about every two weeks but I've not flown solo yet? because I'm only 15 but hopefully with the rate of hours I'm gaining I'll get my PPL by the time I'm 17. Have you got a PPL?

Yeah haha. I've had a few instructors but my the guy I've had for the past 12 lessons has been Cardwell (sorry forgot his first name). He's probably my favourite though cause he's very good. Did you? fly at Phoenix or Sheffield Aero Club? I had my first lesson at Sheffield Aero Club about a year and a half ago but Phoenix was cheaper so I stuck with that, plus I didn't want to pay £200 a year just for membership.
