As far as "remember that respect is? earned", that doesn't explain why they were friendlier 5 years ago. Maybe if this were my first time in Thailand that would make sense, but it's not, so I can compare 5 years ago to attitude has definitely changed. I'm not the first to say this, others on ThaiVisa feel it's because of the influx of tourism which is straining thai/farang relations.

No way to comment on your profile or message you, and Skyjohn deleted your comment and mine on his video, so... @"What a load of bollocks. I live here, and the number of tourists has gone down, not up. If? the attitude towards foreigners seems suspect, remember that respect is earned." Like I said, I was here 5 years ago and there was nobody at the viewpoint on most nights, now there's at least 50 people every night.
