and because of the old Rocketparts catalog there are hundreds of thousands of different parts scattered around the US. and for around $800, you can upgrade the pulley, injectors, and exhaust on the grand prix and run high 14's, or? put in new crower rods and JE pistons and secret cam swap the Quad 4 and run mid 14's. it doesn't matter what you get, fact is the quad has more options. you can only do so much with a 3.8 before you run out of options.

actually it takes a lot less to get some good numbers from a Quad 4 powered Grand Am. for $800 and a weeks worth of tear down and rebuild, your looking at around 280hp. and thats not even changing cams or touching the header. you can get a faster time than a grand prix in a quad powered car. highly modded the Quad has more options. stockv sotck of course it wins. the base non LG0 gets 150hp. anything up? from that you'll be in trouble on the track.

it can. there is no denying that a 4 cylinder can beat your supercharged v6. and even the? 3.4 has some potential. with some head work, exhaust work, cai, tune, and some polishing it can run in the 13's without boost. with a little more work, my lawnmower could have a v8 in it and beat your grand prix too. you get my point here? you can be beaten by anything, even a Grand Am.

now i have a complete aftermarket exhaust setup, new suspension, fuel system, ICM, TPS, CAI, a fixed? coolant system, firestones, and a bunch of other stuff i cant remember right now. im pretty sure id run at least a 16 without the subs in the back. and if you upgrade the cams on these and give it a tune, your looking at 180hp on a Quad 4 or 2nd gen twin cam. the supercharger kit gives it 200+hp. and if you turbo one your looking at 350hp+

with the right parts any car? can keep up with the GTP. if its light and has more power it can beat it. and this dragstrip was locally owned so im not sure on how up to date it was. i have some time slips of me running a few years back when i first got the car. i had a bad cooling system, water pump, leaky exhaust, stock setup, and 200lbs of stereo equiptment in the back and ran a 17.1. i haven't run in quite a long time.

actually thats where you are wrong. the Quad 4 has a huge aftermarket for parts, bigger than the 3.4. its actually faster than the v6. i've seen guys run 11's or even 10's with a twin cam, and they were just scratching the 500hp barrier. 1st gen? Quad 4s(LGO's, W41's.)can compete with the fastest 4 cylinder cars around today. and they are over 20 years old. not to mention the Quad 4 STILL owns the flying mile record and many others.
