At least most of these creatures are apparently evolved from a first speculative creature, which I've never? seen but has been described as a sort of centipede with two heads. So, they all got two heads lol

Sure convergent evolution produces separate creatures which seem somewhat similar, such as wolves, cougars, and the extinct Tasmanian tiger, but know that these are all closely related (they're all mammals) and are only separated by a few million years. Let's examine something more unrelated, such as a bird and a bat; same function, very different appearance. Look at a squid and a fish, same thing. On an ET? planet, it's not necessary they be tetrapods.

everything is relative. what may seem ridiculous to you can be perfectly fit for the animal's environment. 99% of species on earth has gone extinct, because they were no longer "fit", but they were all fit for a period of time. Look at trilobites! They survived so many mass extinction, yet they had esophagus going through their brain and a stomach in their head! What is more ridiculous than that? And they were? one of the most successful and diverse group of animals to ever live!

two "heads" - there is a feeding "head" that can retract into the chest and the thing you really think is a "head" just protects genitals. If you look into the physiology of these animals closely, they are nothing like anything on earth, but they sometimes resemble earth animals on the outside, because, as you said, convergence works here too, and similar conditions might well lead to similar result.? ;-)

I've a problem with people postulating really outlandish forms when convergent? evolution has been shown to occur on earth, e.g., Australian marsupials. Given an earthlike planet, doesn't it make sense to assume earthlike evolutionary pressures on creature forms? Sure they can be different, but that seems a bit much. BTW, what is with the two heads on most of those??

I guess my point is, I would be hugely surprised if alien life was anywhere near as weird as snaiad, or some sort of lovecraftian? stuff. Mainly because those shapes would almost certainly be less efficient then more mundane forms. Like having your jaws connect to your digestive system is simply more efficient then having them connect to your genitals. Mind you I also think we'll never see any alien lifeforms, so moot point, but still.

I mean to be sure, I don't think you'd find copies of earth lifeforms. But I don't think the difference between the average alien lifeform in a certain niche will be that bigger then the difference between? a bird and a pterosaur. Which are different sure, but you can't say they lack any sort of similarity whatsoever. (And I'm aware of the differences. (Like how pterosaurs push off the ground with their arms instead of their feet etc.) But still a wing does need a wingy-shape.

I mean you hear astronomers say alien life would be nothing like earth-life, but as someone who knows more about biology then physics, I think they're wrong about that. Life's chemistry is based on abundant molecules. And carbon, hydrogen and oxygen? are both abundant and have the desirable chemical properties for the complex chemistry of life. Shape as in nature on earth, will follow function. So alien life is probably pretty mundane looking.

Much as I like the artistic skill behind the Snaiad creatures, I don't think alien life would look that weird actually. Nature? is a harsh survival based thing where form follows function. So whatever shape is effective for a certain environment you'd see over and over again on every planet with that environment. Evolution streamlines organisms, whatever is a waste of energy gets cut, unless it attracts mates.

Perhaps it's too late, but here's the answer. It was a project on speculative exobiology, how would look like a planet similar to earth with life of its own. The project was based on illustrations and? text published in a website. Perhaps the author had the idea to get that in other formats, like books and documentaries, like Darwin IV, but unfortunately he couldn't afford the website anymore, this year he had to shutdown, another youtuber told me.

These still look too much like vertebrates. It looks like all they did was make their skin look different, and add extra appendages. Aliens could? look a lot more exotic. For example, imagine if an octopus-like species was to terrestrial species as fish were to tetrapods.
