The problem as I see it is not so much in every day to day situations, but when political decisions are to be made, laws for? example that will effect everyone. I think that rules like that should be determined through discussion and reason :) There are judgmental ppl in all ideological systems, and stupidity follows no age, race or belief ;)

I HATE when somebody tries to throw their beliefs or? moral judgments on me. "That's not very Christian". Neither is judging someone, you dipstick. I always quote, "Judge not, lest ye be judged." That usually shuts them up. Muslims also do it, constantly, and Christians of all stripes do it so often it makes me block them left and right. My thing is my thing. Your thing is your thing. Get out of my face. That's my opinion. :)

I agree with you! without restrictions, everyone should have the freedom of having their own beliefs (and faiths)! Moreover, it's unfair, in my estimation, to refer to believers are 'delusional' or to say the situation is 'sad' that people have beliefs. My personal beliefs give me comfort in a lot of ways and it helps me gets through my day. A lot of Atheists don't understand this, I know, and you personally have never insulted me for my beliefs, but understand also there are people? for whom religion, God, etc., is the only imaginable answer. But they do get carried away.

Undoubtedly, a lot of the book is nothing more than parables, examples of how the authors of the book, conservative old men trying to impress their mores and beliefs upon the MEN of that contemporary day and a lot of it was carried over from other religions. I think a good lot of it is true and a good lot of it? is fiction. The point is this though. Those of us who believe in God (I am not a Bible thumper but I have my beliefs) have the right to do so.

Jesus importance for the establishment of the Christian religion I have no doubt in. And several of the stories might well have occurred, not to talk about the wisdom words he spread. But this does not mean that every word of the book is true. The teachings I don't think loose their relevance even if he was not a supernatural? person.

And of course there is now the shocking discovery of what seems to legitimately be the tomb (with ossuaries) of not? only Jesus but the entire rest of his family as well, plus another tomb (The Patio Tomb) where strong signs carved on other ossuary boxes pointing to Jesus' tomb also exist, just 200 feet from the so-called "Jesus Tomb". I think a lot of artistic license was taken in the story, but I do think Jesus was valid and important.

No I don't think people readably die for something that they know to be a lie. But there are mainly two problems here. Firstly; you take the stories to be true, how do you know (Jesus and his disciples)? Secondly; your argument can be applied for lets say suicide bombers, so if they die for their? convictions, are they true?

The virgin birth of Horus is part of early ancient Egyptian mythology. I have no objections to the fact there there were crucifixions during that time, or the origin of church. But this? does not in anyway prove the resurrection OR that Jesus was the son of god.

-I heard similar claims about Horus as well that he was born of a virgin, rose from the? dead, etc... Mainly from the movie zeitgeist which I doubt. I would say the evidence support Jesus Christ over these other supposed claims. Roman historians giving evidence to the crucifixion, and the origin of the church. One being Josephus.
